JD 18-24: Dental Care and Workout Begins

I was so lucky to find the dentist that I did in the same building as my Dermatologist  I sat down with her this week and came up with a game plan on what to do to bring myself to a good oral health.  I was concerned with staying within my covered services and knowing that I have a $2,000.00 yearly max for dental I told my dentist and the office manager that I want to use up all of that this year and then if there are more concerns and services I need after that max my benefits will start up 1/1/14 and then we can continue our services as needed.  Together the three of us worked on a game plan of what were we needed to start first.

  1. go to an oral surgeon to have a tooth removed.  I had a molar that grew facing out and it wasn't part of my bite at all.  This tooth also had a large cavity most likely due to rarely being brushed on the top part because of the angle of the tooth.

  2. Take care of a few cavities on my left side of my mouth

Scheduling my appointment with the oral surgeon I was able to get in last Thursday.  Everything went really smoothly.  The drugs made me sleepy and made me feel a little queasy but other then that I was lucky with how well I felt.

Waking up today (Sunday, November 10th I was feeling so much better and was wanting to get my physical self going.  My cousin Shannon was running a 4 mile run today at the Ohio State University (Go Bucks).  Shannon is one my fitness idols making the time to go to the gym and running before putting in a 12 hour day at work.  Shannon was texting before the 4 mile run and inspired me to workout.  I headed to the gym intending to take a group fitness class.  I prefer group fitness classes as I am really good at talking myself out of working out when I'm on cardio equipment.  Unfortunately there was no class as I thought so I jumped on some kind of running cardio machine and got to work. 

I would love to tell you jumping on the machine was like no time had gone by.  Unfortunately I did feel every minute I was on the machine.  I did 45 minutes before heading home feeling more then a little sour.  It's possible I over did with the the pain meds I'm on from having a tooth pulled but I did it and I'm feeling good having accomplished this.  Once I was home I made myself a protein shake with It Works Ultimate Profit in Creamy Vanilla and Greens orange flavor.  It seemed to work in making me feel better.  It's possible that my sugar level dropped too low in my workout.  I will have to monitor this and workout a better plan for my pre and post workout food.

I have gone through my week calendar and scheduled in my workouts.  The first of which is tomorrow at 5:30 am.  A Group Fitness instructor I know leads a 5:30 a.m. Class called Insanity.  I have tried the videos before and they kicked my butt and since I really enjoyed Kristi's training style I decided to plan to get out of bed even earlier on a Monday and head to the gym to jump start my week.

Seeing as New Years is just 50 days away I really need to get moving with my fitness so that I'm on track by my birthday (March 16) goal of being down 50 pounds.

  • Monday:  5:30 am Insanity
  • Tuesday: 4:30 pm Hot Vinyasa Yoga
  • Wednesday: 4:30 pm Cardio
  • Thursday:  4:30 pm Yin/Restorative Yoga
  • Friday:  5:30 am No Limits Circuit
  • Saturday: 8:30 Hot Vinyasa Yoga
  • Sunday:  8:30 am Cyle and Core

There aren't any classes I'm interested in Wednesday either early morning or evening so my plan is to do a couple different pieces of cardio equipment those days.

The trick for me for working out before work is I have to carefully plan ahead my next day, outfit, makeup, toiletries – everything has to be planned ahead and you have to be ready for anything.  This creates my problem of over packing!  We shall see how I do with packing my gym bag!
